Schools & Competitions

The Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Board are committed to the development of cricket.

Part of this development involves working with schools and developing opportunities for those interested to progress into the club environment. This is achieved through supporting the establishment of school-club links and providing an opportunity for children to compete in school competition at primary and secondary.

Competitions run and supported by the LRCB include;
Lady Taverners Indoor Competition (Secondary – Girls only)
Girls Kwik Cricket (Primary)
Boys Kwik Cricket (Primary)

If you would like more information about these competitions or in establishing links with your local school or cricket club, please contact Laura Joyce via laura.joyce@ecb.co.uk or 0116 2442198.

ASDA Kwik Cricket

ASDA have created a brand new Kwik Cricket Web-page which can be found via www.asda.com/kwikcricket. The site has been created to try and make the ASDA Kwik cricket competitions more engaging and exciting for the players, supporters and staff that run them.

Prizes are being offered and the biggest is that one school team taking part this year will win a coaching session with 2 England cricket players.  The way you win this prize is getting the teacher in charge of the team to set up their own team page, which is a bit like a facebook page.  Then get as many members on your team page as possible in the same way you invite facebook friends.  The team with the most members on their page on the 15th July after the National final wins.   There is also a competition to win tickets to International cricket matches which we will run every two weeks.

 - The website also contains all the info you need to know about the competition such as how to sign up and order kit. It will also be updated every day with fixtures (from County Final onwards) and results so good performances will be highlighted and schools can look to see who they will be playing in the next round.

- There is a news section which schools can write in to with match reports or photos that will then be posted if they are the best. The best stories win a piece of signed memorabilia.

- These is also a video section with top tips from England players that your kids might find interesting. At the moment there are two of the England women's team giving tips. A new one will be added each week.

- Finally there is a linked to the online game howzat so kids can play their school mates online.
